Notes and Tips About Visiting Brazil
-
1. Eu não falo inglês
Most Brazilians do not speak english. Good luck!
Tips:
-
Download the Google Translate app on your phone. In the app, download Portuguese (Brazil), for use without internet.
-
Consider learning some Portuguese basics like "Hi", "Thank you", and "Do you speak english?".
-
-
2. No Need to Tip
Brazil doesn't have the tipping culture that we do in the States. Just be polite and make a good name for us Americans.
-
3. No Toilet Paper in Toilet
There will be a small trash can next to the toilet. Put it there, or go to jail.
-
4. Safety
Florianópolis is pretty safe, but always be aware walking at night time.
Tips:
-
Be aware of your surroundings.
-
Don't walk around staring at your phone.
