Notes and Tips About Visiting Brazil

  1. 1. Eu não falo inglês

Most Brazilians do not speak english. Good luck!

    Tips:

    • Download the Google Translate app on your phone. In the app, download Portuguese (Brazil), for use without internet.

    • Consider learning some Portuguese basics like "Hi", "Thank you", and "Do you speak english?".

  2. 2. No Need to Tip

Brazil doesn't have the tipping culture that we do in the States. Just be polite and make a good name for us Americans.

  3. 3. No Toilet Paper in Toilet

There will be a small trash can next to the toilet. Put it there, or go to jail.

  4. 4. Safety

Florianópolis is pretty safe, but always be aware walking at night time.

    Tips:

    • Be aware of your surroundings.

    • Don't walk around staring at your phone.
